Master Bathroom – No. 2

Interiors

27 Jan

The details are what bring a space from functional to inviting! Not to mention shopping for these pieces can be a lot of fun! The inspiration for the “feel” of the space came from an artist I follow on Instagram, Hannah Winters. Her landscape paintings are absolutely stunning and put me at ease every time I look at them. I knew I had to have her work in this space and so I invested in two of her ‘hillside’ series prints during her end of the year sale. From here, all the accents in the room aimed at being cohesive with the art.

I am a HUGE fan of frames from Target. Our master bathroom has a large layout and the black tile floors are a statement in themselves, so I aimed to incorporate darker tones into the décor in small ways. The frames I used are a thinner frame to bring a more modern element to these traditional prints. The other elements I used to balance the dark tones throughout the space are the faux rubber tree from Pottery Barn and my soap dispensers. The current hand soap (and candle) I am using is a splurge from Pendry Hotels. The have a signature scent my husband and I immediately became obsessed with and we order refills as gifts for each other throughout the year.

Bright black and white bathroom.

After balancing the light and dark elements in the room, I went for pieces to add warmth and an organic component to the space. Choosing a rug was the hardest part of this entire project! Originally I thought I needed a smaller rug in front of the tub, and then a longer runner in front of the vanity. But by using other rugs around my house to test out different configurations, I realized placing a bath rug in front of the tub was one element too many in the space. So I used these low-pile, warm, neutral bath rug from the Hearth and Hand with Magnolia collection at Target. I love the feel of them under my feet and the small tassel detail. I also scooped up this warm-tone wood stool for next to the tub at the same time! I love that if I ever wanted to change this out, this table could literally go anywhere in my house and still work.

The laundry hamper was actually the very first piece I bought for this bathroom when we moved in. Hands down this is THE BEST hamper I have ever owned. It is a space-saver, sturdy, and each side of the hamper holds an entire laundry basket worth of clothes! We use one side for lights and one for darks – the perfect item for functional beauty! Not to mention, I always looking for ways to incorporate seagrass baskets for a modern coastal feel. 🙂

Lastly, by now you might have noticed a love a good faux fern! I used the small fern from Threshold’s latest line with Studio McGee at Target to center the vanity and placed it in a marble tray from Crate and Barrel I got a while back. From a daily use standpoint, I love having the tray on the vanity to hold soaps, lotions, and a place to set my jewelry or contact case at the end of the day. Not to mention, all these pieces can be beautiful elsewhere in my home if next year I am feeling the need to refresh this space!
